After three decades of establishment, Nhon Trach from a purely agricultural district has become a modern industrial center of Dong Nai province. At the same time, the district is gradually forming urban chains, riverside resort eco-tourism. With the advantage of geographical location, convenient traffic connection, near Long Thanh International Airport, in the near future, this will be a green smart city chosen by many people inside and outside the province as a place to live and relax on weekends or holidays.

For example, Ong Con islet in Dai Phuoc commune more than 20 years ago was just an islet with a number of households living and doing agricultural production. However, now this place has become a high-class tourist and resort urban area with a full range of accompanying services such as entertainment areas, restaurants, golf courses, etc. At the same time, this place has also become a tourist destination visited by many tourists inside and outside the province.
According to the Dong Nai Provincial Plan for the 2021-2030 period and a vision to 2050, Nhon Trach district will be a modern and green smart city. In particular, Nhon Trach will focus on developing the aviation industry, high technology, intensive industry and high-quality services, innovation, and deeper participation in regional and global value chains. Gradually linking large urban areas through underground space in association with developing various types of commercial-service and urban functions. Nhon Trach will also form a chain of high-tech urban - service - industry, synchronously connecting infrastructure and logistics services with the system of Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport, Phuoc An seaport, Ho Chi Minh City center; develop service and tourism routes connecting Long Thanh International Airport with Can Gio Biosphere Reserve. In the coming time, Nhon Trach also invites domestic and foreign businesses to invest in projects in many fields such as urban, service, tourism, trade... tourist, entertainment, and shopping complex associated with Long Thanh International Airport. At the same time, along the route to Phuoc An Port, it is expected to form a green urban chain.
Compared to districts in Dong Nai province as well as the Southeast region, in recent years, Nhon Trach has the highest total budget revenue. Every year, the budget revenue rate increases by about 20%. In 2023, the district's total budget revenue will be over 13 trillion VND (accounting for nearly 20% of the total budget revenue of the province), an increase of 280 times compared to 1995. The above results are due to the district's efforts to remove difficulties, support businesses and people to develop the economy.
In addition, the district is also a locality that the province focuses on investing in connecting transport infrastructure to promote development and growth. This is the premise for the district to mobilize resources to invest in the development of the whole society. In addition, the district has promptly implemented investment incentive policies, promoted administrative reform, created all favorable conditions to attract investors to implement new projects and expand production and business in the district. Nhon Trach district is home to two foreign corporations with the largest total registered capital in the province, namely Hyosung (South Korea) with 2.2 billion USD and Formosa (Taiwan, China) with over 1.4 billion USD.
According to the assessment of economic experts, in the coming years, Nhon Trach will have breakthroughs in socio-economic development, especially when Long Thanh International Airport comes into operation, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, Cat Lai bridge and a number of other bridges were built. Particularly, Phuoc An Port comes into operation, which can help the district increase revenue for the state budget by 10 trillion VND/year. In the coming years, Nhon Trach - Long Thanh - Trang Bom - Bien Hoa will become a major urban quadrangle of the province and region.
